A Swedish-American merchant mariner and conservationist, Peter captained a vessel that led the longest maritime pursuit in history—tracking a blacklisted illegal fishing ship across three oceans and 10,000 miles before it was scuttled off the coast of São Tomé and Príncipe. The story was captured by The New York Times.
In response, he developed a civilian offshore patrol vessel programme that partners with governments across eight African coastal and island states to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. These patrols have resulted in the arrest of over 99 illegal vessels and are now expanding into the South Pacific.
With over two decades of experience in conservation, Peter has built public–private partnerships, supported high-impact media campaigns, and secured funding to scale critical initiatives.
He is a recipient of the Winsome Constance Kindness Gold Medal for Humanitarian Service and was awarded Liberia’s highest military honour, the Distinguished Service Order.
